Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.

"Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there." - Will Rogers
It’s a powerful reminder that knowing your direction is just the start. Having the right ideas, intentions, or dreams won’t get us where we want to go unless we keep moving forward. Progress, after all, is about taking consistent action, no matter how small.
Imagine you’re standing on a train track, feeling good about where you’re headed. But if you’re not moving, life will inevitably start to pile up behind you. Inaction, even with the best of intentions, leaves us vulnerable to feeling stuck or losing momentum. Moving forward doesn’t always mean giant leaps—it can be tiny steps, small actions that add up over time.
When we’re on the right track, it’s important to stay motivated, set goals, and keep ourselves accountable. This doesn’t mean we have to move at lightning speed, but we do need to keep moving, adapting, and making choices that support our goals. Maybe it’s learning a new skill, tackling one more step in a project, or taking a risk to step outside of our comfort zone.
So, if you find yourself on the right path but feeling stagnant, ask yourself: What’s one small action I can take today to keep moving? Even the smallest steps forward keep us out of that “run over” zone and push us toward growth and fulfillment. Remember, being on the right track is powerful, but staying in motion is how we make progress and reach our destination. Keep going, one step at a time.
