"You don’t drown by falling in the water; you drown by staying there." - Edwin Louis Cole

We’ve all been there—stuck in a moment where everything feels overwhelming, like you’re sinking. Maybe it’s a tough situation at work, a personal challenge, or just one of those days when nothing seems to go right. Falling into these “waters” happens to everyone. But here’s the good news: falling isn’t the problem. Staying there is.

Life will throw us curveballs. That’s a given. But it’s not about avoiding every stumble or misstep; it’s about what we do after we hit the water. Will we flail around, let the waves pull us under, or will we look for something to grab onto and start swimming?

I’ve learned that the key is not to let the situation define you. Sure, it’s easy to feel stuck, but the truth is, we always have a choice. We can stay there, replaying the “what ifs” and “should haves,” or we can decide to take even the tiniest action to move forward. That action might be as simple as asking for help, changing how we think about the problem, or just taking a deep breath and trying again tomorrow.

Here’s what I remind myself: struggling doesn’t mean I’m failing—it means I’m human. The water only becomes dangerous when I give up on the idea that I can rise above it. And I can. So can you.

Falling is inevitable. Staying down is optional. So, what’s your next move? Whatever it is, trust that you’re stronger than you think. You’ve got this!
