When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but we often look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.

"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but we often look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us." - Helen Keller
Have you ever experienced a moment in life when something you thought was going to work out just… didn’t? Maybe it was a job opportunity, a relationship, or a dream that you had been chasing for so long. The door slammed shut, and for a while, all you could see was the disappointment staring back at you. It felt like the end of the road. But, as time passes, you realize that sometimes, life’s closed doors are simply guiding us to something better.
It’s easy to get stuck, isn’t it? When we invest our hearts and minds into something, we often become blind to anything else. The thought of what we lost occupies our thoughts, and we forget that there could be something waiting for us right around the corner. The longer we focus on what’s no longer there, the harder it becomes to spot the new opportunity that’s been quietly waiting for us.
I’ve been there too—grieving the loss of something I thought was meant for me, only to later discover that I was being redirected to something far more fulfilling. At first, the change felt like a failure, but looking back, I realize it was a blessing in disguise. That door had to close for me to make room for something better, even if I couldn’t see it at the time.
So, here’s a thought to reflect on: What if, in this very moment, we’re missing out on something amazing because we’re fixated on what we’ve lost? What if the thing you’re waiting for, the happiness you’re craving, is already waiting for you—but you’re so focused on the closed door that you can’t see it?
The key is to shift our perspective. Instead of dwelling on the "what ifs" or "why not me?" ask yourself: What’s next? What is the lesson in this moment? Maybe it’s not the time for that door to open again, but it doesn’t mean there isn’t another one waiting to welcome you in.
So, today, let’s try something different. Let’s stop staring at the door that’s closed and start looking at the one that’s wide open. It might not look exactly how we expected, but who’s to say it won’t lead us to exactly where we need to be?
Remember, every setback is simply a setup for a comeback. The moment you start looking for new opportunities is the moment you begin walking through the doors that are meant for you.
Your next chapter could be waiting on the other side. Don’t miss it by staring at what’s already gone.
